The International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague adjudicates core crimes under international criminal law.
The audiovisual installation ICC numerus by Anna Knöller & Grit Lieder examines the performative processes thatcharacterize the jurisdiction of the ICC – rituals, stagings and architectural structures that oscillate between transparency and censorship.
ICC numerus translates these researched structures into stenographic notations and transforms them into sound.
The notations inscribe themselves acoustically into the architecture of the aquarium and open up sensory access.
A new process begins in the sound part of the installation – shaped by the presence of the visitors.
